Our mission matters

The mission of Camp Amigo is simple:

Provide kids with physical and emotional scars a place to just be themselves and build a network of support they can use throughout their lives.

Inspired by kids, powered by resilience

For young burn survivors, Camp Amigo is a place where they aren’t "different"—they’re understood. Through adventure, friendship, and support, they rediscover confidence and joy. Whether you’re a camper, volunteer, or donor, there’s a place for you here.

Children who are between the ages of 7-17 who are burn survivors and have been treated by a physician in the hospital are invited to join their fellow survivors at Camp Amigo!

And the best part? Our amazing sponsors make it possible to put Camp Amigo together at no cost to our campers.

Fanning the flames of community

For years, several Tallahassee Firefighters attended camps run by the Children’s Burn Foundation of Florida. Rusty Roberts was one of those firefighters and one year, he decided that the North Florida area needed to have a camp too! With help of several of his friends, the Tallahassee Firefighters had the first camp at Billy Jo Rish State Park on Cape San Blas in 2001.

The campers had such a great time that Rusty decided that it should be an annual event, and Camp Amigo was officially born!

We’re more than just a camp.
We’re a Community and Family!
